The Top Family Destinations in 2018

Are you trying to decide as a family where you will be jetting off to this summer? It can be hard to narrow down your options and choose somewhere that will make everyone in the family happy. So, to help you decide where to visit, we have listed below for you our top family destination in 2018.

Nairobi, Kenya

If you are looking to go a little further afield this year, then Nairobi in Kenya is a great option to consider. You may be a little worried about this destination, however, it is packed with amazing child friendly attractions including the Nairobi National Park where can enjoy the most amazing day of wildlife watching. This includes leopards, giraffes, lions and zebra amongst many, many more.

If you are looking to have a much more hands on experience, then we would recommend that you go to the Giraffe Centre or the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. At the giraffe centre you can feed these magnificent creatures, while at the Wildlife Trust you can go and see orphaned elephants who are rehabilitated here and prepared for life back out in the wild.

Romania

Another interesting destination we recommend if you have slightly older children is Romania. Romania is filled with lots of amazing, and a little bit scary, folklore. Bran Castle is a major attraction here as it is actually the historical setting behind the legend of Dracula! You’ll find this grim castle with turrets and ramparts set against a mountain backdrop. Another fun historical site here that is linked to the legend of Dracula is Poienari Castle which was said to be another home of Dracula.

Bali and Indonesia

More and more people are visiting Bali and if you have seen pictures of it, then you will completely understand why! This enchanting destination is steeped in Hindu culture and not only will you find breathtaking tropical landscapes, but there are also plenty of amazing activities to enjoy here too. Make sure you don’t miss out on visiting the Ubud monkey first or go dolphin watching off the North shore of Bali.

This is also a fabulous location to enjoy some kayaking and the peaceful Gili Islands are not far away. If you are taking your kayak, be sure to get the most comfortable seat for this type of climate and adventure (you can find the best seat reviews here: https://bestkayaks.reviews/seats).

While you are on the island, also make sure you do not miss out on visiting the Gili Meno’s turtle hatchery.

Havana, Cuba

You may not previously have been aware, but Havana in Cuba has an array of brilliant family friendly attractions. If you have kids who love all things to do with science, they will absolutely love going on a tour through Havana’s planetarium which takes you though four floors of rooms, starting with the Big Bang. You can also go rowing on The Parque Almendares river or enjoy some crazy gold in the gorgeous sunny weather.
